Most students choose to complete the California Elementary Teacher Preparation Program alongside their Liberal Studies degree. This integrated pathway allows you to earn your B.A. and teaching credential simultaneously while completing required subject matter competencies (aligned with CSET standards). You’ll graduate ready for licensure and employment, and potentially qualify for additional teaching authorizations.

Many students earn their degree and credential in four years, graduating faster than pursuing these independently.

Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies

In the Liberal Studies program, you’ll build a strong foundation in the subjects you’ll teach while learning how to make that content engaging and accessible for young learners. Coursework in pedagogy and assessment helps you connect how students learn with how you teach, so you can lead with confidence in the classroom.

Through hands-on fieldwork in local schools, you’ll gain real experience early on, applying what you learn in meaningful ways. At the same time, the program creates a clear path to your teaching credential, allowing you to make steady progress toward becoming a licensed elementary educator.
